In a COMMENT, I want you to add words to each frame of the Spiderman comic below. Try to determine what story the pictures alone are telling, and then add words to change that story--help us see something different, more complex, or more humorous, or more surprising.
Remember that when words and images come together, they can change what we see and make us tell a different story. McCloud, in his book Understanding Comics, talks about many of the word + image relationships, such as "Additive" (when words add something to the image), "Parallel" (when words and images are both telling different stories), and "Interdependent" (when words and images each add something important to the story, and complement each other).
In your COMMENT, just write Frame #1: words... Frame #2: more words... Have fun with it and think about how words change pictures and tell different stories. This is what I want you to examine in Short Paper #2, so consider this useful practice!
This is ALL you have to do this week, other than write the Short Paper #2 assignment by Friday. For next week, we'll start reading Capote's In Cold Blood, and I'll give you instructions on that around Friday. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Frame #1: So there I was, escorting the Uranium, out of the crime scene. I’ll admit, it was foolish doing it by myself, but you know how slow the HMU can be under emergencies like this!

Frame #2: “Take that, you old fuzzy!” “You buffoon, don’t let it hit the floor!!!”
Frame #3: “Phew! Close call! Now let’s get outta’ here you nitwit!” “Give that back you crooks, you don’t know the half of what you’re doing!”
Frame #4: But I’ll tell you, if HMU could show up with half the speed that spidey-guy showed up with! I’d be tellin’ a whole ‘nother story; I’m tellin’ ya!
“Spiderman, I’ve just heard that Investigator Gambill got knocked upside the head by some unknown Masked Villains!” “I thought my spidey senses were picking something up.” “And worse yet, they seem to have gotten their hands on some previously confiscated Uranium!!!”
Frame #5: “Then that means I don’t have any time to waste!” “But Spiderman, you should wait fo-” “No time! And with any luck, before I get there they’ll have knocked some sense into that old selfish crook!”

Frame 2: "I will find you...(dramatic pause) and take back what

"Oh, I don't think so!Everyone will thank us now!"
Frame 3: (other guy catches up to man who stole ingredients)
"Finally, I had to hold him off so I could catch up to
you. Tell me, what's does it look like? Smell like?"
"Like nothing I've ever smelled before...it smells
delicious bro, my mouth is watering at the sight."
(Spiderman appears in an instant)
"You know, you really shouldn't take what isn't yours
buddy. Make this easy on me and hand it over."
Frame 4: (Spiderman tries to take it from the mans hands. They
wrestle over it until it crashes down to the ground
accidentally. They are standing atop a building.)
"You don't understand Spiderman! That was the world's
greatest recipe for chicken and dumplings! It was
right in our hands!"
"Now, look what you've done!"
(Spiderman cries out in agony)
"Whaaatttt? Noooooo! I wanted some tooooooo!"

Frame #3: OUCH! You thieves! I'll get my revenge!: RUN!!!

Frame 3) "Hey, come back here! You have no idea what your dealing with," (other characters exchanges words then say), "we know exactly what we're dealing with, That's why we're doing it."
Frame 4) (Spiderman appears and tries to take the container from the robbers hands then asks the man), "What exactly are we dealing with here?". "That robber stole the last container of grandma's tea I grabbed from Walmart, little does he know it's unsweet tea which is still available."
Frame 5) "Spiderman what are you going to do?", (Spiderman), "I'm going to tell them the truth like you should've just done." "Hey! Hey! This pandemic has you looking crazy you fool! That's not sweet tea, it's unsweet tea you fools!"
